LaGrange Co. 4-H Fair: July 12-19, 2008

Dear Contestant,

We are so glad to see you are interested in competing for the title of Miss LaGrange County 2007! The event will take place on July 14 with interviews tentatively on July 13.

You will find enclosed an application, a list of guidelines, and a list of helpful hints. Please complete the application by June 23, 2007 and mail to:

You will also need to include a wallet-sized picture and your sponsor fee check with your application. If the check cannot be sent with the application, it can be sent separately, but it must also be received by June 23.

As you prepare for the pageant, you may want to begin gathering: a black cocktail dress, a suit, and an evening gown or prom dress. During the pageant you will be responsible for your hair and make-up; however, during one of the meetings we will discuss tips on each and how to apply stage make up.

Miss LaGrange County Pageant Guidelines

Contestant must be female

Contestant must never have been married or have had children

Contestant must reside in LaGrange County and/or be involved in LaGrange County 4-H

Contestant must be at least 16 years old by the LaGrange County pageant on Saturday, July 14 and must not have reached her 21st birthday as of the first day of the Indiana State Fair Queen Pageant

Contestant will be judged in the categories of Interview, Professional Wear, and Evening Wear and must therefore possess attire sufficient for each category

Contestant must have all apparel being worn during the pageant approved by the pageant committee

Contestant is not allowed to have family or friends behind the scenes during the pageant. Assistance will be available.

Contestant is responsible for finding a sponsor for herself (a local business, relative, etc)

Contestant will be submit a $75 sponsor fee from her sponsor

Contestant will participate in the 4-H Fair Parade on Sunday, July 15 and is responsible for providing a convertible to ride in

Attendance is expected on the following dates:

· July 1 at 4 pm for a meeting– location TBA

· July 8 at 4 pm for a meeting – location TBA

· July 11 at the fairgrounds for rehearsal and decorating – time TBA

· July 13 (tentative) for interviews – time and location TBA

If you have a conflict with one of the dates listed please contact Renea Boots as soon as possible.

Should the contestant be chosen Miss LaGrange County , she is expected to actively participate in the fair activities throughout the week of July 14-July 21

Should the contestant be chosen Miss LaGrange County , she will represent the county in the State Fair Queen Pageant in August at the State Fair

Be unique with your suit – color is good

Your suit can be a skirt, pants, or business/professional dress

Wear closed-toed shoes with your suit

It is not necessary to have two different suits for your interview and professional wear. Your interview suit will meet the requirements as your professional wear. You do not have to; however, it will save time and money.
